Film

I write screenplays and occasionally direct films.

Here's the latest and greatest film-wise.

Feature Films

I have two feature film scripts that are currently seeking a home.  If you are an agent, manager, or producer, you can get a copy by contacting me.  They are:

THE DREAM PROXY
An unemployed man gets hired by the people who make dreams to play minor roles in the dreams of others. But when he finds himself falling for a woman with troubled dreams, he can't help but get involved in his waking life.
Genre: Romantic Dramedy in the tradition of Eternal Sunshine of The Spotless Mind and Stranger Than Fiction

IF YOU LOVE SOMEBODY
A romantic comedy about a couple who must keep their breakup a secret in order to avoid ruining a family wedding.
Genre: Romantic Comedy

Short Films

DISTURBING LEONARD

I wrote and directed this dark comic short about a suicidal librarian who thinks he is the unwilling star of his own reality TV show. Disturbing Leonard was filmed in Boston with a cast of local actors, including the incomparable Larry Coen in the title role. It won first prize at the Sumner Redstone West Film Festival in Los Angeles and played at several other festivals around the country.

To buy a DVD of the 23 minute film, please send $6 through PayPal to bfolman AT hotmail.com. Please be sure to include your name and address, so I'll know where to send the DVD. If you are not in the U.S.A., please include extra $ for international postage.

BILL FOLMAN, THE SCANDAL PLAN:
A DOCUMENTARY SHORT OF SORTS

This is a dark, funny short film I wrote that was directed by my friend Nick Weiss. It is a fictitious documentary about me going to increasingly desperate and disastrous lengths to promote the paperback release of my novel, THE SCANDAL PLAN. This was meant to be our attempt at guerilla marketing, Blair Witch style, though it never quite worked out that way (to read the story behind this marketing adventure, click here). It's also a commentary on the desperation of the novelist and the book business in general. I'm still very proud of this little film (that's "film", not "book trailer"), and I'm pleased to be able to show it here. I hope you enjoy.
